Your Questions, Answered
Frequently asked questions
Every project is assigned to a seasoned, native-speaking linguist who works in your target language. Because we keep working with the same trusted translators over the years, you get steady quality, consistent terminology, and the precision that official documents demand.
Have a credential requirement in mind for your translator? Let us know before you order, and we will match you where we can.
Our coverage spans many language combinations. Take a look at the full lineup. Don't see your language? Reach out anyway, since there's a good chance we can still take care of it.
If a document is readable, we can usually translate it, whether it's legal, medical, academic, or personal in nature. Browse sample documents on our page, and when a particular file leaves you uncertain, just ask.
Our standard service is a human translation handed back in an editable file such as Microsoft Word. It suits everyday personal and business needs like emails, reports, manuals, and website copy.
A certified translation reproduces your original word for word and comes with a signed declaration from the translator or agency attesting that the work is accurate and complete. That declaration also confirms the translator is fluent in both languages. You will typically need one for official matters such as immigration files, legal and court filings, and school applications.
Turnaround & Delivery
Yes. For an extra charge, we can rush your project and shorten delivery by roughly half. Rushed work is flagged as high priority and jumps ahead in our production queue.
For certified orders you receive a locked PDF together with a Certificate of Translation Accuracy that we sign and stamp. Standard orders come back to you as Word files you can edit (.docx). Want certified hard copies in the mail? Just let us know.
Yes. We print certified translations on 24 lb. stock, sign them in wet ink, and mail them inside a protective envelope. Which courier carries it comes down to the destination: domestic street addresses go by FedEx, while Canada, P.O. boxes, and military addresses route through USPS, and everywhere else around the globe travels by DHL Express. We'll let you know once your order is ready to look over, and nothing ships until you give the go-ahead.
Certified Translation Specifics
Yes. We offer notarization for one flat fee per order. A California Notary Public notarizes each Certificate of Translation Accuracy and adds their commission details. A notarized translation is recognized in every one of the 50 states.
For an added charge, we can request the apostille from California's Secretary of State for you. It validates the California notary who signed off on the Certificate of Translation Accuracy so the document holds up in countries worldwide. Prefer to handle it yourself? Reaching out to that state office on your own works just as well. Take a look at our page for the finer points.
Yes, we can convert currency figures inside your documents for an added fee. Pass along the exchange rate you want used, and we'll record it on your Certificate of Translation Accuracy. Reach out to add currency conversion to your order.
No. With academic paperwork, we supply certified translations only. Evaluating credentials and judging academic equivalency is the job of specialized evaluators. Get in touch to learn more.
Filling out forms isn't something we usually do, though there are occasions where we can lend a hand. Check with us about your request before you place the order.
Security & Confidentiality
Keeping your personal details, documents, and payment information safe matters to us. Whether you're checking out, sending over sensitive files, or signing into your account, we put safeguards in place at every turn. Visit our page for the full rundown.
Yes. At checkout you can leave notes for your translator, like the correct spelling of a name or useful background on the document, so the result is as accurate as possible. You're also welcome to upload reference files to guide their work.
Order Help & Account Management
You can look up where your order stands anytime through the link in your confirmation email. The status page refreshes in real time as work moves forward.
We review change and cancellation requests one at a time. When your translator hasn't begun, we can usually halt the project. Once work is underway, we may refund the part that's still outstanding. Get in touch as soon as possible, and look over our policy to find out if a refund, whole or in part, applies to your order.
Revisions can be requested straight from your order status page. You'll find the link in your confirmation email and in most of the follow-up messages we send.
About ABC Translations
Our translations are produced and reviewed by ATA-certified translators, who earn that credential by passing a graded exam that tests real translation skill. That is the standard we hold our work to. A corporate ATA membership is a different thing entirely. Any company can buy one for a fee, so it is really just a marketing gimmick that says nothing about the quality of the translations, because the company itself is never tested. We would rather earn your trust with proven, certified people than with a purchased badge.
Our main office sits in [SCRUBBED_LOCATION], [SCRUBBED_LOCATION], while orders ship out of Sacramento, CA for quick, dependable delivery throughout the US. Everything we do runs online, so there are no walk-in or in-person services. Find out more here.
No. Documents come in through digital upload on our website only. That keeps your files handled in the safest and most efficient way.
There's an automated line you can call for quick things, like checking where an order or a quote stands. Want to talk with a person on our support team? Get in touch and we'll reply before long.
Yes. You'll find genuine customer feedback on our own site as well as on Google and the BBB.
Pricing & Payment
Head to our page for a complete breakdown of what every service costs.
We take every major credit and debit card, handled securely through Braintree, a PayPal company. PayPal and Venmo work too. With invoicing enabled on your account, you can also pay invoices by ACH drawn directly on a bank account in the United States. For business accounts, we accept checks and wire transfers as well.
Yes, we ask for payment in full when you place the order. Paying up front lets us start your translation immediately and keeps delivery on schedule. Approved accounts can use invoicing with terms like Net 15 or Net 30.
We look at refunds individually. As long as no work has begun, we can normally call it off and return your money. If the translator is already underway, we may refund whatever portion of the job remains. Tell us as soon as you can if you need to cancel, and see our full policy for the details.
International Orders
Yes, we work with clients around the world and can prepare documents meant for use abroad. That said, rules differ from one country to the next, so be sure to verify what the receiving institution or agency expects. We're glad to walk through those requirements with you if it helps.
Yes, DHL Express reaches international destinations, and USPS serves Canada too. The cost and timing hinge on where it's going and are worked out at checkout. Every shipment can be tracked.
File Uploads & Formats
Most everyday file types work here, including PDF, the Word formats (.doc and .docx), along with JPG, PNG, TXT, and RTF. Not sure your file type makes the list? Just ask.
Upload a PDF that's locked with a password and our system prompts you for that password on the spot. That lets us open the file safely to count the words and carry out the translation.
We're happy to take on documents with lower image quality, provided they're plainly readable. Should your file look blurry, faint, or warped, we might ask for a sharper copy so accuracy doesn't suffer. Sending the clearest image you have helps you sidestep delays and mistakes.
Handwritten material works fine as long as the writing is tidy and easy to read. If the writing is too unclear to read, finishing the work may be beyond us. Go ahead and upload it, and we'll review it before moving forward.
Revisions & Quality Assurance
We care about quality and stand behind every translation that leaves our hands. Notice an error? Send a revision request straight from your order status page, and we'll look it over and correct any mistakes fast, at no cost to you.
Yes. Need formatting tweaks once your translation is in hand? Let us know. Small changes are typically free, while larger formatting jobs may carry a modest fee depending on how involved they are.
